# Terminology

> Healthcare codes and FHIR terminology operations

**Terminology** is a healthcare product at [terminology.aiql.io](https://terminology.aiql.io). It loads standard clinical code systems, maps free text or codes to trusted codes with explainable matching, and exposes FHIR terminology operations.

It is aimed at clinical coding and interoperability: consistent codes across systems, with a trail of how a match was chosen.

This is not the Middleware API. Workspaces, ingestion, and queries stay on the [Middleware API](/products/middleware). Programmatic access is the [Terminology API](/products/terminology-api).
